Felt/Magnet Board:

This week we did Five Autumn Leaves from Miss Tara and Friends. It's a cute little rhyme and the kids enjoyed counting along with me and making the woooshing wind noises.

Five Autumn Leaves
Five autumn leaves hanging from a tree (five fingers)
I wonder if they'll fall for me (shrug)
The wind comes blowing wooooosh round and round (big arm movements)
And one little leaf comes fluttering down (flutter fingers down to ground)

We let the kids sit down during the magnet board (no standing!)  and we made a bigger deal of the woooshing wind than in the rhyme.

For the magnet board itself I found black and white clipart of leaves and a tree and colored them with washable marker. I then thought it would be a neat technique to dribble water on the leaves so that they looked a little more natural - some worked better than others :-) .

Craft:

This week we made a Plaid Autumn Fox from the lovely people at Oriental Trading. Unfortunately, the fox is no longer available, so I'm definitely glad we got him when we did.

Felt/Magnet Board:

This week we used out Brown Bear, Brown Bear story pieces that can be found here for our magnet board (it does include a RED bird afterall). This is always a hit with kids and easy to pull off - I show the kids the picture of the next animal and have them call it out before continuing the story.

Craft:

This week we recreated a Big Red Tub for our craft! This is one from our Library Files so I have no credit to give it to. The concept is pretty simple - we could clipart of some of the animals that jump into the Big Red Tub with Stella and Stan and printed them onto colored paper. Once again, our Summer Volunteers helped us cut all of this out ahead of time. Then the kids glued the animals to the tub picture that had been traced onto red construction paper and VOILA! A Big Red Tub craft!

This week we did Five Little Monkeys Swinging From a Tree as our magnet board. For the magnet board I printed out a few clipart images from Microsoft Word. We sang the song and I acted out the words on the magnet board. The rhyme goes:

Five Little Monkeys
Swinging in a tree
Teasing Mr. Alligator
“Can’t Catch Me”
Along came Mr. Alligator
Quiet as can be……
SNAP!

Four…
Three…
Two…

Craft:

This week we did a simple Monkey Paper Bag Puppet! Thanks to our Summer Volunteers the pieces were already cut out and ready to go - the kids just needed to color and glue them onto the paper bag! This craft was found in out old library files and I have searched high and low all over Google trying to find a match for the template and cannot so unfortunately I can't credit a source.
